eChapter EBP Grant Application Instructions

Applications must follow the guidelines listed below or they will not be funded.
Funding Rules
Projects eligible for funding
One evidence-based quality improvement project or research study that is/is not associated with a thesis or project course for which the applicant will receive academic credit (ex. senior thesis or project) will be funded annually up to $1,500 to offset project expenses that may include dissemination of results.
Applicants must be eChapter members
Applications will be accepted from August 1 through January 31.
Preference will be given to members committed to professional development*.
EBP projects funded must be completed within 1 year of grant receipt. If the project cannot be completed within that time frame, please provide an explanation and proposed completion date.
EBP projects must be applicable to OR nursing and have received IRB approval if involving human research.
Applicants must agree to share study/EBP project results with the eChapter BOD, eChapter Research and Evidence Based Practice Support Committee, eChapter membership and provide evidence of submitting a poster/presentation proposal for the AORN Expo following study/project completion.
* Professional development: Includes but is not limited to evidence of demonstrating continuing education either academically or professionally; participation in professional organizations; holding a professional certification; attending perioperative conferences; presenting posters/live presentations/educationNOTE: Funding status notification will be received by all submitting an application. The application process requires uploading an application that includes the proposal and a separate budget using the provided templates in a single .pdf document.
Application Requirements
• Completed eChapter EBP Grant (eEBPG) Application that meets the following criteria:
❑ 1-3 pages long, single spaced with appropriate citations
❑ A statement of the problem being investigated
❑ Significance to perioperative nursing
❑ Question(s) to be asked
❑ Synthesis of the literature supporting the project
❑ Design methodology to be employed including aims, data collection methods, sample selection including size, and data management
❑ Anticipated outcomes and method(s) for measuring
❑ Reasons funding is necessary
• Clearly outlined budget using the eEBPG budget template
❑ 1 page
❑ A breakdown of all anticipated expenses including the TOTAL cost of the project. Please include vendor name and product quotes. Include shipping and handling costs, if applicable.
❑ A brief explanation of why each item is important for the project.
Note that only completed applications (i.e. eEBP Application and EBPG Budget) will be considered by the committee.
